Love, Live and Let Go

Updated: Sep 2, 2019

"In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of the things not meant for you." – Buddha

I am almost 30. Actually, in exactly a week, I will be turning 30.

Even though the number shouldn't matter, I can't help but think that the years that I have lived taught me a lot and guided me and still is guiding me where I need to go.

This quote has helped me a lot in figuring some things out in my life.

When I was younger, I thought I could be whatever I wanted to be. Although "president" was never on my "to-be" list, I thought I could be a successful business owner, at the same time be a famous musical star, dancing and singing on stage, all the while my personal life flourished as I am the perfect wife to a perfect man and the perfect mother who never makes any mistakes and always has the right answer. I thought I could do it all and be it all. And I thought this "positive" and "can-do" attitude was what everyone needed to succeed. Only that I didn't understand it fully.

While that is, by some, considered a good attitude to have - not to lose the hope of a 5 year old - and I think it is crucial that we all explore the crazy possibilities of what we could be and have the insanely positive hope that you can be anything you put your mind to be, it is also crucial to come back down to earth and realize that not everything is meant for you, and you cannot do it all. Also you SHOULD not do it all. That kind of life that I pictured, having everything that both was and was not meant for me, led me to pursue perfection, which can be dangerous because perfection is far from reality, and when you pursue perfection you compare your reality to that perfect image, then it is that much harder to give thanks and be happy.

We are all here for a reason. There are things that you were meant to do, there are places that you are meant to be at, there are people that you are meant to be with. If you pursue what clearly isn't meant for you, you lose focus on what you are really here to do: your destiny, your dharma.

Yes, you better hope and dream big and crazy like you are 5 year old kid.

Yes, you better believe anything is possible when you put your mind to it.

And Yes... you should GRACEFULLY let it go when you figure out something isn't meant for you, and instead, direct your energy, time and focus into things that were meant for YOU!

And for those things that were meant for you,

you better put no limitation on how many people you can positively influence,

you better open your imagination to how big you can be,

you better dream ridiculously big that you will have to live your utmost best to carry out all the amazing things you will be able to do and achieve... through the things that were meant for YOU.

We all die in the end. Our earthly bodies will return back to earth and perish.

How do you want to live while it lasts?

In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of the things not meant for you. So that you can truly focus your energy on what is meant for you.
