Turning 30

Updated: Jun 17, 2022

Today I turned 30. And I find it a good point in my life to reflect on the last decade.

When I look back on the last 10 years of my life, I could not be more thankful. My 20s was the decade of constant LEARNING.

Went through a lot of schooling not really knowing what I wanted to do in life (to be fair, how was an 18 year old person supposed to decide Business was the one thing she wanted to do for the rest of her life?). After graduating, still was not sure what to do with the degree, so I stayed in school to do master's in Business (digging deeper hole at this point). Then went onto having 4 different jobs in marketing, advertising and ad tech (lost much?). But all this "being lost" gave me an opportunity to live in 6 different countries, move 15 times, travel through 60 countries, tried new things such as sky diving, flying an airplane, getting myself some injuries, and also met a ton of amazing people.

Still did not have an answer so I....

Became a certified yoga teacher and a certified holistic nutritionist, a scuba diver, and won a gold medal in belly dancing competition. Yes. All over the place :)

I had been fired from a job, I found other jobs.

Lost some people, met new ones.

Got kicked out of a flat, made the world my home.

So many things have happened, ups and downs, trying to experience it to the fullest, so that I could find out who I was. I am not all that sure of the answer yet, but along the way, I learned so so so much, especially about myself, and I definitely know more about myself than before, as I have a closer relationship with me now than ever.

I have decided, that in my 30s, I want it to be the decade of GIVING BACK.

I want to use what I learned so far, and put it to good use.

I don't know where it is that we go after our lives on Earth, and we're here very briefly.

But after we're gone, this place will continue to exist for a long time,

so what I CAN do is try and do my best to make a positive imprint on this planet.

So now...

- I'm going to start volunteering as a yoga teacher, starting tomorrow

- my cookbook is coming out soon and

- through my holistic health business, I want to help people make healthier choices.

- I'm going to go scuba diving in 3rd world countries to clean up the bottom of the ocean where turtles and sea animals are dying chocking on the plastic we throw out mindlessly.

- I'm definitely going to continue the vegan lifestyle and recycle (and consume less)

- Maybe I will even get to help organize a TedX event

To conclude my last decade, I have learned the most important lesson thus far.

You might never figure out what you are doing, where you are going, what you're supposed to do. But in hindsight, life has (always) put you right where you are supposed to be.

So just try to be your best every day, then you will learn something from it, and naturally you will have more to give back to the world, and that will in turn help you find out who you are meant to be.

I am still working on being my best, being my whole-self and my fullest, and giving thanks in every situation. In the mean time, I gotta do what I can right now.

And.. the search goes on :)
